Aon

Health and Benefits Intern

June - August 2017 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

Many opportunities to work with higher level consultants and managers. I also got to attend/participate in meeting with many different clients to gain real experience.

What I wish was different

Working on a client from start to finish. I know it is hard to do this with the limited time and to also expose the interns to multiple different clients.

Advice

My manager was very willing to let me learn about any position I was interested in, as well as talking to anyone I wanted to hear more from. I wish I had taken more advantage of this in the beginning to hear more about other positions within the Health and Benefits team as well as Aon as a whole.

Risk Solutions Intern

June - August 2017 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Great networking, was able to collaborate across departments within Construction Services, and the Senior Vice President of Aon Risk Solutions was very instrumental in meeting with interns to stay up to date with our projects/development. Pretty much everyone in CSG had work or an opportunity for me to jump in and learn something new. Weekly presentations from a different group within Aon and CSG. Mentorship, learning, and networking are huge (and awesome) aspects of the culture at Aon.

What I wish was different

The length. It was just 10 weeks.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask to sit in on a meeting or collaborate on an initiative - the worst they can say is no! And I don't think anyone ever said no.
