JOB TITLE:                            Teacher Academy Technician – Career Tech Center

 

CLASSIFICATION:                Hourly

 

REPORTS TO:                       CTC Principal

 

SUPERVISES:                       Not applicable

 

GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:

Career Tech Center Teacher Academy Technician works in conjunction with the Teacher Academy Instructor to provide a range of assistive functions within the secondary learning environment.

TERMS:
This position is a 191 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Personal business days, holidays and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).

 

SALARY RANGE:
This position is on the NonUnion Hourly Scale, $20.8817-$27.4972 per hour.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists the lead classroom instructors in the daily educational operations and functions of the Teacher Academy program.
  2. Sets up, supervises and assists students who are working in a lab/shop environment.
  3. Works with the classroom instructor in the delivery of program curriculum and the monitoring of students.
  4. Assists the instructor in the areas of record keeping, instructional preparation, lab organization and upkeep.
  5. Works with special needs students on a one-to-one basis, as necessary.
  6. Assists in the supervision and documentation of student performance and progress.
  7. Participates in professional development activities related to the job description.
  8. Support the classroom instructor by observing Teacher Academy students in their local districts.
  9. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the classroom instructor.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Five years or more (minimum 4000 hours) recent related teaching experience.
  2. Knowledge and familiarity with curricular and pedagogical practices of a teacher.
  3. An ability to work comfortably and effectively with high school students in lab and/or classroom environments.
  4. Preferred candidates will have, at least, an Associate’s Degree or related training or college classes.
  5.  Knowledge of careers and technology in the field of Education.
  6. Possession of effective oral and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to qualify for Annual Career Authorization based on adequate work experience.
  8. No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities
  9. CTC Technicians must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective relationships with the instructor, students, parents, and other CTC team members.

  1. Successful experience as a professional working with secondary students and/or classrooms.

NOTABLE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Certain technician positions require passing a MAISD-paid physical examination and/or back x-ray, before an unconditional offer of employment can be made.

 

TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work may be performed in any CTC classroom or lab and may also occur at various locations within the community.

 

EVALUATION:

CTC Technicians are evaluated according to current Board policy.

 

TRAVEL/OVERTIME EXPECTATIONS:

Overtime would be rare and only at the discretion of the MAISD.  Some local travel may be expected.

 

PAY STRUCTURE: 

This position is on Grade H of the MAISD salary scales.
