Residency Education Specialist

The Como Park Zoo and Conservatory education team is excited to an announce opening for a Residency Education Specialist position. Our team creates dynamic experiences that inspire curiosity, foster appreciation, and encourage action to protect our natural world. As a Residency Education Specialist, you’ll play a key role in bringing these experiences to third grade students — with frequent travel to schools across Minnesota as part of our high-impact Residency Program.

Here’s what you can expect to do:

Frequent travel to schools across Minnesota, with occasional overnight hotel stays to support program delivery.

Part-time position at 32 hours per week with benefits, running from September to May (nine months).

Lead hands-on learning experiences about the tropical rainforest and the plants and animals in Como’s care.

Deliver four consecutive days of activities per residency, held at Como or at participating schools.

Help ensure equitable access for students in both the metro area and Greater Minnesota.

Position Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience working in formal or informal educational settings.
 
Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.  
Depending on the job vacancy, specific areas of expertise and experience:

  • Plant and animal handling;
  • Early childhood development, school, or organizational group setting teaching

A combination of education and experience to equal 6 years or more can be used to qualify for the position.
