LSE Laborer- Deer Hunt
Performs field activities to ensure that the forty-two wildlife compartments at SRS are in a condition that allows the safe placement of more than two thousand hunters.
- Employees in this position are responsible for surveying the scheduled wildlife compartments to include: measuring distance between stands, and updating maps accordingly.
- Assist supervision in determining the areas that may need to be re-arranged to allow safe hunting due to the occurrences of a natural disaster or removal of trees by the USFS.
- Assist supervision in preparing road closure notices and revisions to wildlife compartment maps.
- Perform pack leader duties during the hunting activities and serve as a guide for public hunters.
- Be alert to unsafe hunting practices and initiate a stop of any unsafe activity until supervision can arrive to remove the participant.
- Ability to field dress a large amount of harvested animals.
- Perform general labor duties as directed by supervisor.
- Operate government vehicles as required to satisfy job requirements.
- Use and maintain government provided equipment (e.g. chainsaws, hand tools, snake boots, etc.) as necessary to satisfy job requirements. Use of government provided equipment may require site issued property pass.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or other equivalent State Credential
Preferred Qualifications:
Driver's License and ability to read road maps
Security Clearance Information:
SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
