Survey Technician

Our Ohio-based team has extensive experience with local and state standards and are available to respond to client needs promptly. We are experts in bridge, roadway, traffic, survey, and right-of-way design services.  

Position Purpose: As a team member you will be responsible for assisting with data collection, preparation of survey basemapping, right-of-way plans, legal descriptions, plats, and other work associated with the collection and analysis of field data. Project related coordination with team members, utility providers, property owners, clients, and other government agencies will be required. The position will require daily travel to project site locations throughout the state and may require extended overnight travel. Fieldwork will occur in all seasons of the year, cold and wet weather included.  

Key Skills, Competencies, Experience and Certifications required:
  • Valid State driver’s license and appropriate insurance
  • Basic oral and written communication skills
  • Strong background in mathematics
  • Understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
  • Ability to travel and work overtime and weekends, when necessary
  • Ability to transfer equipment weighing up to fifty pounds, either assisted or unassisted

Key Skills, Competencies, Experience, and Certifications preferred:
  • 2-year Associate’s Degree in Engineering and/or Surveying Technology, or related technical knowledge gained from previous work experience
  • Basic CAD skills and experience using AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Basic understanding of boundary rights
  • Familiarity with survey instrumentation, such as total stations, automatic levels, GPS survey systems, and laser scanners
