GRAPHIC DESIGNER

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graphic Designer (40 hrs. /wk.) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Graphic Designer is a dynamic role for a skilled, creative person, responsible for concept, design and production art of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Inc. promotional, informational, marketing and educational materials and visual properties primarily based on our national brand and trademark standards.

The Graphic Designer will create inspiring digital and traditional print materials to assist PPWI in its commitment to assist patients of all genders to be safe, healthy, and strong -- as well as engaging our supporters with visually impactful donor-facing materials and social media digital assets. Work must be based on existing brand standards from PPWI, PPFA, and other brands that are part of the PPWI family. In an energetic office setting, you will develop new materials and repurpose existing materials playing a crucial role to support PPWI’s strategic initiatives. As the designer for the organization your clients will be PPWI experts in multiple departments across the organization – thus, no two days are the same. You’ll lead the design process, which includes facilitating ongoing input from other team members.  
 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated ability to develop creative materials with internal or external partners Proven design skills in the development of visual communications materials
Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, as well as Microsoft Office
Must have knowledge of prepress file preparation Flexible, ability to reprioritize projects as needed
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
Self-motivated, resourceful and able to work independently
Exceptional organizational and project management skills
Attention to detail
Demonstrated understanding of branding and brand value
Knowledge of technical requirements for both pre-press print, digital, and multimedia production files
Proven success in time management and managing multiple priorities
Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, and basic Spanish language skills are preferred.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
One to three years of experience in production art, graphic design or digital publication design. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual and Fine Arts, or related field is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position is predominantly sedentary requiring the ability to sit, bend, stand, and walk. May require occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing and repetitive motions of the hands and wrist related to writing and typing at an electronic keyboard. Rarely requires kneeling, pushing/pulling and repetitive motions of the feet.
Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and calculator.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. The noise level is generally low to quiet. The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations, however, may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform said essential functions. Long hours and evening or weekend hours may be necessary.
 
This position requires occasional traveling, therefore a valid driver’s license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards may be required.



Essential duties and responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following

  • Produce creative and compelling on-brand communications across all channels, including print, web, video, motion graphic animations, technical documents, and retail packaging design.
  • Develop, recommend and deliver creative strategies, design execution options and assist with all steps in the design process from concept to production.
  • Produce all PPWI promotional, informational and educational materials with a consistent professional image in accordance with brand standards.
  • Work closely with Manager of Marketing and Communications and all agency departments to develop materials, including the broad spectrum of communication and marketing mediums such as annual reports, events materials, traditional, electronic, social, and emerging media.
  • Guide and project manage all creative projects from concept and design through proofing, printing, completion and delivery.
  • Maintain knowledge of current software and hardware consistent with changes in industry and agency needs.
  • Additional duties as assigned
