Who will my colleagues be?
You will learn and teach alongside 31 other undergraduate and high-school fellows from across the city and country, all selected through a competitive application process and committed to educational equity.
How big are my classes?
You will teach two academic classes of 6 - 12 students and two elective classes of 6 - 12 students.

Do I need to pursue an education major or minor to apply?
No! Our summer teaching fellows come from a range of majors; this may be the first time you're considering teaching.
Am I eligible to apply?
You are eligible if you are a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior. You are eligible to apply if you are an undocumented or DACA student; our summer teaching fellowship is not a job, and it does not require employment eligibility verification.
Do I need to submit official transcripts?
No, please submit unofficial transcripts unless you have official transcripts readily available. We do not want you to spend money securing transcripts for your application. If you do not have easy access to unofficial transcripts, please feel free to submit screenshots of your grades from your college portal.
Where is the program located?
Our in-person and hybrid programs are hosted by our district and/or charter partners, including Denver Public Schools, Holyoke Public Schools, and Providence Public Schools. We will also have virtual programming this summer.
My college offers summer internship funding. Can GT sign my paperwork to confirm I have completed the program and met the requirements?
Yes! We are happy to help you with your paperwork. GT will not duplicate external funding, but we are happy to support you in securing a larger scholarship from another source.
Can I submit separate applications to Denver, Providence, Western MA, and Virtual?
Please submit only one application. You will be asked to indicate your preferred location and whether you would like to be considered for other cities.
I don't live in the cities GT serves, but I really want to teach. Do you provide housing?
If you do not live in one of our cities, you can apply for the virtual academy and teach from home this summer. We do not provide housing. If you decide to teach in-person, we encourage you to connect with local fellows to identify summer housing options.
What happens after I submit my application?
We will review your application and invite promising candidates to a virtual interview. You will have your decision within four weeks of the application deadline. You will have three days to decide whether to enroll.
Who is the point of contact in case I have any questions?
You can reach out to Bee Nance, our Senior Director of Finance and Talent with questions. She can be reached at bnance@genteach.org.
