THE ROLE:
 
The Batesville manufacturing plant is a 24/7 3 shift facility produces our Hillrom brand, electro-mechanical hospital beds in a flow assembly manufacturing process which includes fabrication of sheet metal and coil work, punch press, tooling, machining, welding, sub and final assembly.
 
The HR Generalist position will work closely with the Manager of Human Resources and other business partners in support of the Hillrom Manufacturing Operations. This role will be responsible for human resources activities such as recruiting, development and retention of talent, and employee relations. In addition, this role will have labor relations responsibility for the factory production workforce (represented by the United Steelworkers 525U) and Over-the-Road Drivers (represented by the Teamsters 135).
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
 
The HR Generalist is an individual contributor who reports directly to the HR Manager.
 
LOCATION:
 
The role is located at our manufacturing facility in Batesville, IN. Local candidates only. No relocation.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Other duties may be assigned:
 
- Partner with HR Manager, line managers and their teams to facilitate achievement of business objectives and goals.
 
- Provide expertise in areas of human resources such as labor/employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, change management, leadership development and diversity.
 
- Serve as talent acquisition point lead for the assigned client group.
 
- In partnership with Talent Acquisition, works with managers on development of job descriptions, talent selection, and leveling of new Provide support for HR initiatives such as talent planning and development, engagement, and the performance management process.
 
- Ensure successful execution of HR fundamentals (i.e. metrics and data accuracy, HRIS systems, leave management, benefit resource, general HR administration).
 
- Partner with internal compensation resources to provide compensation guidance to business leaders.
 
- Interpret and implement Company policies, as well as Global, Federal and Provincial laws and regulations.
 
- Protect the interest of employees and the Company in accordance with company policies, governmental laws and regulations.
 
- Partner with line managers and Hillrom's external Recruiting Process Outsourcing vendor to manage the recruitment, selection, and onboarding process.
 
- Work closely with line managers and supervisors to review and make recommendation for title, level and compensation changes. Effectively partner with the HR Manager and the Corporate Compensation team.
 
- Investigate and resolve employee/labor relations issues as needed.
 
- Coach and counsel managers and employees in all areas of performance management and HR processes and policies.
 
- Create and/or deliver effective communications and/or training programs as needed.
 
- Manage assigned projects according to project objectives and deadlines.
 
Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
 
- Bachelor's degree is required.
 
- Minimum of 3 years progressive human resources generalist experience required.
 
- Manufacturing, union environment preferred. 24/7 3 shift ideal.
 
- Support of large employee population (200 preferred) to include bargaining/union, non-exempt and exempt.
 
- Strong understanding of all functional HR disciplines with specific strength in employee and/or labor relations and talent acquisition (HRIS/metrics, employee relations, recruitment, employee engagement, performance management, etc.).
 
- Skilled in managing labor/employee relations issues and communications.
 
- Adept at using a applicant tracking system/ATS (Taleo preferred), an HRIS system (PeopleSoft preferred), and e-time system (ADP preferred)
 
- Strong abilities in influencing, facilitating and proactively driving change.
 
- Solid understanding of talent management processes, including sourcing, selecting, hiring and on-boarding.
 
- Strong interpersonal and overall communication skills. Skilled listener and relates well with employees across all levels in the organization.
 
- Demonstrated history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility, and partnering with leaders and peers.
 
- Plans and prioritizes well. Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage frequently changing priorities and a significant variety of work simultaneously.
 
- Demonstrates a clear sense of urgency.
 
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.
 
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
