Assistant BIM Developer - Aviation & Federal (Kansas City)

The Aviation & Federal Division of Burns & McDonnell seeks an Assistant Developer to work within the Electrical Department. The Assistant Developer will support all aspects of software development related to electrical systems design software platforms.
Responsibilities include:
  • Develop an understanding of both electrical systems design and associated design software platforms.
  • Assist with developing and implementing systems software including utilities and other tools required to improve the design capabilities of the design software platforms.
  • Gather and understand team member requirements for development of design software functionality.
  • Create Dynamo scripts for use with AutoDesk Revit, AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Create custom nodes for use with Dynamo.
  • Create engineering and construction specific software programming including databases, cloud-based solutions, laser scanning, generative design, and reality capture equipment.
  • Assist the team with analyzing, recommending, implementing and managing the design software.
  • Assist in identifying new software releases or solutions for the design software.
  • Assist in identifying new technologies and alternative systems to enhance electrical design capabilities.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the art computer/network systems technologies, architectures, and products.
  • Accurately estimate development efforts.
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Technical expertise in computer equipment, storage, back-ups, operating systems and tools used in an operating environment required.
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain applicable certifications.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship, in the country where this position is located, for the duration of the internship.
