Summer Intern, Product & Technology Software Development

The role of the Intern in Product & Technology is to learn the design, build and maintenance of high-quality technology solutions that deliver an exceptional customer experience. As a P&T Intern, you’ll work closely with team mates on an agile development team, requiring close and continuous collaboration with developers, product managers and program managers. You’ll learn how to translate user stories and functional requirements into scalable, resilient, and secure technical designs.
As an ideal candidate, you will have had exposure to programming in Java and/or Golang, with hands-on experience coding in college classes using Java or other object-oriented programming languages. You will have completed computer science courses in data structures, algorithms, data management and programming.
To be considered for this role, applicants must be enrolled in an accredited university with a minimum of 60 credit hours completed at time of hire.
Responsibilities:
Learns from Developers how to translate basic user stories and functional requirements into resilient & secure technical designs.
Writes unit tests and automated tests to ensure software quality. Writes automated software deployment pipelines.
Learns and employs troubleshooting skills.
Participates in design and code reviews.
Leads and participates in internship-associated project(s), both functionally and in an enterprise capacity.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing Bachelor’s (Juniors/Seniors) or Master’s degree in Computer Science
0-1 year of relevant programming experience in Java or other object-oriented programming languages is expected to be successful in this role; Experience coding in a collegiate setting.
Prior internships, research projects and hackathon participation preferred.
Technical Skills: Java EE and/or Golang
Strong analytical reasoning aptitude
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Fearlessly curious – challenging the status quo by looking at solutions in unconventional ways and seeing opportunities to innovate.
Proven leadership skills alongside academic, athletic, or extracurricular excellence.
Aptitude and willingness to learn and self-teach new skills.
Must be available to work up to 40 hours per week during entire length of program.
