Landscape Internship

POSTING TYPE: Landscape Intern

HOURS: Full-time Seasonal (up to 3 months)
LOCATION: Moultonboro, NH on Lake Winnipesaukee

Camp Robindel is seeking a responsible and self-motivated candidate to coordinate, monitor and maintain landscaped areas throughout Camp Robindel property. 

This seasonal position is a great opportunity for a current student or recent graduate in a Landscaping, Horticulture or a closely related program to further explore their interest and gain work experience in the field. This position does not include benefits.

Minimum Qualifications
• One year of course work in landscape design, horticulture or a closely related field
• A valid driver's license.
Desire and dedication to personal & professional development 
• Basic tree and plant identification
• Knowledge of proper tree pruning
• Ornamental plant care
• Knowledge in planting bed design and maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
• Strong communication, leadership and technical skills
• Positive attitude and a strong work ethic
• Ability to manage multiple priorities

Duties & Responsibilities

Care for designated outdoor landscape gardens (including mowing, trimming, blowing walkways, weeding, hand watering, and planting).
Operate small to medium size equipment to actively maintain gardens and landscape.
Prune vines, small trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and annual/perennial plants.
Building or amending planting bed areas with mulch, top soil, and compost.
Complete other duties as assigned.

Landscape Interns may work in any one or more of the following areas:



Landscape Maintenance:
• Performs general labor necessary for planting and providing flower care.
• Responsible for string trimming, pruning, edging, and mulching.
• Mow lawn either by hand or using a riding lawnmower.
• Trim and edge around driveways, sidewalks, trees, mulch beds, and walls.
• Eliminate accumulated clippings via blowing or raking.
• Blow hard surfaces clean.
• Participate in spring and late summer cleanups as needed.
• Performs weeding duties.
• Painting as needed
• May assist with or observe chemical application or spraying.
• General cleanup of the job site including picking up trash and debris.

• Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow work direction, but also work independently to complete work on time and with a consistent and satisfactory quality.
• Ability to work in a variety of outdoor weather and temperature conditions.
• Skill and ability to safely operate small and medium size equipment to complete work.

Physical Requirements:
• Stands and walks for long periods of time throughout the day.
• Squats, stoops, or kneels and lifts objects from ground frequently.
• Full extension of arms above head and in front of body.
• Consistently lifts weight of up to 50 pounds.
• Occasionally carries and pushes/pulls weights of up to 50 pounds or more.
• Fine motor skills required for use of small equipment and hand tools.

Job Specifications
• This is a Temporary Seasonal position (from approximately May to August).
• Typical work hours are from 8:00am to 4:30pm during the summer season. (some evenings may be required)
• Staff live onsite, all meals provided and staff have access to activities and facilities during their time off.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed mostly outdoors. Driving is required. Employees will be frequently required to work in outside weather conditions, being exposed to cold and hot temperatures, precipitation, direct sunlight, wind, dust, and pollen. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lifting requirement (team lift to 50 pounds), on an occasional basis. Types of equipment used include small and medium size landscaping equipment, telephone, computer, printer, copier/fax, conventional and digital cameras.
