Chemist - GC/MS Analyst

OVERVIEW

This candidate will install, qualify and launch a new piece of laboratory instrumentation. The candidate will also perform sample preparation and analytical testing by Headspace GC-MS. Relocation assistance may be provided.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare samples for analysis by headspace thermal desorption and other techniques
  • Load and analyze samples on the GC-MS (Gas Chromatograph)
  • Perform data analysis and quantitation for characterization of samples using MassHunter software
  • Develop and optimize methods using chromatographic instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot chromatographic instrumentation as needed
  • Use MassHunter to run instruments and analyze results 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Chemistry or related science (ideal candidate will have an MS or Ph.D. degree)
  • Minimum 3 years of gas chromatography experience
  • Experience working with and troubleshooting GC-MS (Gas Chromatography) instrumentation
  • Experience with headspace sample prep/analysis
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multitask
  • Flexibility with changing priorities
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab)
