Marketing Digital Specialist

Join our Marketing team as a Digital Specialist. This role includes developing and executing email campaigns including template development and management, testing, optimization, production workflow, scheduling, and reporting/analysis. The role will work closely with the Database Specialist on data segments from the organization's CRM (Tessitura) and will ultimately deploy mass marketing emails. The position is responsible for creating and executing email marketing campaigns to achieve campaign goals by devising and launching campaigns to increase awareness and engage audiences.

In addition, this role will assist in maintaining and updating the Science Museum's websites (smm.org and store.smm.org). This position will ensure that museum websites are up-to-date with accurate information, develop new web pages, and support the UX/UI Developer/Designer with updates to provide an experience that is user-friendly.

The Marketing Digital Specialist will assist with industry and competitive research, and implementation of digital marketing strategies. This role will closely partner with the research and evaluation, content, creative, and corporate partnership teams. This role will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications. This position will play an essential role in maintaining and enhancing the Science Museum's overall brand experience.

Work Environment: Fast-paced, collaborative office setting. Temporarily remote work from home to be assessed every 3 months in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, office setting onsite.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

50% Email Marketing
  • Collaborate with Graphic Designers and Marketing-Communication content creators to deliver brand-consistent messaging and improve the appearance layout of outputs.
  • Work with creative and content teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure email templates align with objectives.
  • QA all emails, ensuring content is accurate and links work.
  • Partner with the Database Specialist to leverage CRM data.
  • Work closely with the Database Specialist on campaign-related segment requests.
  • Design and distribute emails through the use of automation software.
  • Manage the end-to-end production process for email campaigns and perform testing.
  • Communicate with vendors to deploy targeted initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign results, conversion rates, and website traffic to inform subsequent outputs and improve future marketing campaigns.
30% Web Management
  • Execute day-to-day maintenance of websites (smm.org and store.smm.org) using the CMS, Drupal, and Contentful; and be responsible for the ongoing support of museum sites, ensuring visitor-facing web properties are up-to-date.
  • Partner with the internal content team to ensure that messaging across the website is clear, consistent, and web-friendly.
  • QA all web pages, providing content is accurate, and links work.
  • Perform ongoing keyword research including discovery and expansion of organic keyword opportunities.
  • Work closely with the UX/UI Developer/Designer to ensure that museum-digital properties have ultimate usability and accessibility.
20% Insights and Analytics
  • Track, report, and analyze website and email analytics, and campaigns.
  • Keep the Marketing team informed of important developments, potential problems and related information necessary for effective web and email management.
  • Collaborate with the Evaluation and Research team to simplify complex data and deliver user-friendly monthly web and email reports using various tools to report on agreed-upon KPIs.
  • Support the Director of Marketing to traffic all advertising efforts to appropriate channels.
  • Update and maintain the museum's digital signage.
  • Other digital focus projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Communications, Marketing, English or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of coding in HTML and CSS.
  • Demonstrated experience in a content management system, preferably Contentful.
  • Demonstrated experience with Adobe Photoshop and video editing applications to do minor edits to files.
  • Proven experience pulling data from Google Analytics to assess agreed-upon KPIs.
  • Experience working within a CRM system with the ability to pull data segments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities.
  • Willingness to be open and respectful of all backgrounds.
  • Fluency in language(s) other than English valued (Hmong, Somali, Spanish). 

Hiring Pay Range: $48,000 USD or more annually / Depending on Qualifications.
