About the Bard Early Colleges
Through a tuition-free, engaging college program in the liberal arts and sciences with robust supports, the Bard Early Colleges help high school students, particularly those at risk of not completing postsecondary education, access, afford, and complete college prepared to contribute to the workforce and civic life. Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; they receive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma. The Bard Early Colleges begin preparing students for college work as early as the 9th grade and offer ongoing guidance and academic supports. Now in its second decade, the Bard Early College network serves over 2,850 students in five states. Since 2003, Bard College has awarded more than 3,000 A.A. degrees to its early college students.
Bard High School Early College DC (Bard DC), a partnership between Bard College and District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), invites applications for a full-time School Psychologist.
Position Duties
- Administer psychological evaluations and review independent psychological evaluations to determine eligibility for individualized education plan (IEP) services and provide recommendations for appropriate services.
- Select, administer, score, and interpret approved individual psychological, intelligence, and behavioral measures, using instruments and procedures approved by DCPS to referred students; prepare evaluation reports utilizing the format approved by DCPS as needed;
- Develop appropriate interventions and strategies to assist individual students in academic growth and school adjustment;
- Screen individual student cases for proactive academic and behavioral interventions;
- Analyze and integrate evaluation results and provide instructional and programming recommendations to school leadership;
- Consult and collaborate with parents, school personnel, and others regarding mental health, behavioral, and educational concerns of students;
- Design and develop student and classroom interventions for preventing disorders, promoting mental health and learning; and improving education programs;
- Serve in a lead, support, and/or consultative role with designated personnel to offer prevention and intervention strategies related to learning and behavioral issues, and provide consultation on an ongoing basis to faculty, parents, and other school personnel to resolve students’ learning and behavioral challenges.
- Case manage and progress monitor intervention caseload of students as needed.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in School Psychology, Educational, or Clinical psychology from an accredited institution, to include forty-two (42) semester hours of graduate level coursework and five hundred (500) clock hours of satisfactory field experience in a pre-K through 12 school setting under the supervision of a certified school psychologist. - Certification as a School Psychologist by the District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).
