Electrical Engineering Internship - LED Lighting - Summer 2021

Based in Appleton Group’s Global Headquarters in Rosemont, Illinois, you will provide engineering support in the development LED luminaires for hazardous locations.

AS AN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING INTERN, YOU WILL: 
  • Develop a modular platform for performing automated reliability tests utilizing Raspberry Pi, PLCs, or Arduino
  • Perform competitive analysis by crafting bills of material, performing product teardowns, and testing product capabilities
  • Conduct reliability testing on LED luminaires including temperature, mechanical, and electrical tests
  • Analyze component failure on field returns
  • Assist Senior Design Engineers in developing new products
 
WHO YOU ARE:

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Junior or Senior standing as of Fall 2021
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Experience working with Computer-Aided Design software (such as AutoCAD or Solid Works)
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, at our office in Rosemont, IL, during Summer 2021. 
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
 
 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  
  • Programming ability with C, C++, JAVA, and/or Python strongly preferred.
  • Soldering experience and/or ability to read schematics.
  • Familiarization with the operation of digital oscilloscopes, function generators, low voltage DC supplies, and/or digital voltmeters.
  • Working knowledge of project management processes and tools
