Overview

The Mind Research Network (MRN), a subsidiary of the Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute (LBRI), is currently seeking a Program Manager to direct and oversee research projects in Dr. Kent Kiehl’s laboratory.
 
The Program Manager will oversee research activities that support a NIH-funded clinical trial designed to evaluate the neural changes associated with mindfulness and relapse prevention treatment for alcohol use disorder among incarcerated criminal offenders. Will be responsible for: 1) Recruiting and scheduling participants and tracking protocol progress, 2) Conducting protocol assessments, 3) Training other staff and students on 1&2, 4) Working effectively with treatment providers to coordinate treatment and research protocols, 5) Coordinating study protocol and procedures with correctional facility staff, 6) Analyzing data to assure data integrity, quality control and protocol compliance, 7) Preparing IRB and NIH reports, 8) Using statistical software to analyze data quantitatively and qualitatively, 9) Assisting in the preparation of conference presentations, manuscripts, and grant proposals. Parts of the work will be conducted in corrections facilities. 
 
Will also provide oversight for other research projects, including forensic and community studies. Utilizing the organizations’ administrative and operations resources, this position will ensure that the fiscal, staffing, and administrative requirements are met for each project/program. Will also research and identify new funding opportunities.  


Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 5-7 years of directly-related expertise in research studies and administration; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. 
 
The Program Manager position requires specialized knowledge and comprehensive administrative, organizational, and operational skills, along with demonstrated participation in operational planning and coordinating the development and administration of institutional operating research policies and procedures.   Must have a sound and fundamental knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to human subject research as well as previous demonstrated experience and success in project management principles, practices, techniques and tools. Previous experience in budget development, oversight and cost control procedures is strongly desired.
 
Requires a professional demeanor, strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills, and excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills. Must have demonstrated success in working independently as well as a part of a team, and the ability to work against firm deadlines. 


Preferred/Additional Qualifications

MA/MS (with Ph.D. or equivalent preferred) in a scientific discipline.
 
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a background check.
 

Salary

 
Salary is commensurate with experience.
