Evening News Anchor
WREX – TV in Rockford, Illinois is looking for an energetic and charismatic newsroom leader with a passion for investigative journalism to be our next evening news anchor. Not only will you anchor our 5 p.m. 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. shows, but we want you to contribute to our award-winning 13 Investigates team and “Digging Deeper” reports.
We are looking for someone who can bring creativity and energy to the anchor desk and can deliver and connect with our viewers with passion, personality and professionalism. The perfect candidate is someone who can serve as a good example for our young, talented staff and someone who is dedicated to working with others in a team-oriented environment. We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to connecting with our viewers on the desk, on social media and in the greater Rockford community.
In addition to anchoring, the job duties will also include reporting, live shots, story enterprising and development, script approvals, script writing and video editing. Our anchors are our most experienced journalists, and we want them to be leaders in every part of our editorial process.
WREX is committed to produce award-winning content on multiple platforms, including mobile, web and social media. The ideal candidate should have a full understanding of how to use digital media to connect with our viewers effectively.
