Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary
A Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mechanical and electromechanical systems and components to required specifications, focusing on value, quality, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and sustainability. Responsibilities also include assisting with project planning and scheduling and executing projects to meet company and customer objectives in a timely, cost-effective fashion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform a full life-cycle mechanical and electromechanical product development from concept to production including research, specification, ideation, design, development, prototyping, testing, tooling, validation, documentation, and manufacturing support.
- Research and study industry trends as well as competitive and cross-industry solutions.
- Develop product requirements that meet or exceed customer and market demands and provide value and quality. Ideates, sketches, models, and renders new concepts.
- Support additional departments (sales, marketing, procurement, production, and quality) with documentation, technical support, sourcing of components, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly, test methods and fixtures, patent disclosures, etc.
- Implement project tracking tools, document and revision control, and Engineering Change Order systems for maintaining product design and production documentation.
- Develop and maintain professional, positive, and cooperative relationships with team members, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in Solid Works or other mechanical CAD software.
- Proficiency computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Honesty, integrity, and a strong desire to succeed.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design (required).
- 3+ years of engineering experience in product development and production environment (preferred).
- Experience with, or ability to learn and use quality procedures and tools.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
