Overview

Lovelace Biomedical is seeking a Research Associate within the Physiology/telemetry program. The Research Associate will primarily be responsible for the physical and electronic setup of physiology/telemetry data collection systems, data analysis, data reporting and data interpretation for both non-GLP and GLP regulated studies. To be successful in this position the Research Associate should have established capabilities in engineering as it applies to hardware/software data acquisition protocols with the ability to troubleshoot when issues arise. The position will interface with internal and external users to support the impact of physiological end points in program goals. 
 
The Research Associate performs a variety of complex studies documenting laboratory work, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. Independently writes proposals, final reports, and cost estimates. Documents laboratory work to acceptable standards and maintains laboratory/medical equipment and supplies in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), protocols and current federal regulations (FDA GLP). The successful candidate will collaborate with scientific staff and will author sections of publications based on research performed as well as perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.


Qualifications

Requires a Master’s degree in a scientific area such as engineering, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, physics, or a related field and 2 years of related experience in a research setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities and have been attained. Directly-related experience in a research lab is required for this Research Associate position, as is demonstrated success independently completing aerosol research projects. Experience should include conducting related research, writing reports and protocols, using a scientific approach to analyze, interpret and report data within project deadlines. Must have a demonstrated understanding of science research principles, practices and procedures and the ability to follow and enforce safety procedures. 
 
Experience in a broad background of scientific fields including aerosol sciences, mechanical engineering, and analytical chemistry is highly desired. Additional competencies within electrical engineering, toxicology and pharmacology are preferred.  
 
Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Preferred computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Outlook and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
 
This position may involve work inside the ABSL3 facility which may require vaccinations/immunizations. Candidates must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and wear a respirator. A Post-offer physical and background check are required. Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
 
Relocation may be offered for this position.


Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
