Applications Scientist

B&W Tek LLC, a Metrohm group company, is an advanced mobile spectroscopic instrumentation leader, developing, manufacturing and servicing state-of-the-art analytical devices, including portable and handheld Raman analyzers. With the fast growth of our business, we have an immediate vacancy for a full-time 
Application Scientist for our new Plainsboro, NJ location. Several weeks of training will be required at our Newark, DE facility. Company paid hotel rooms will be provided.
SCOPE:
Work as part of the B&W Tek product team to support application and product development and sales and marketing initiatives in diverse activities relating to mobile spectroscopy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage the daily responsibilities of the applications lab (chemical and supply inventory, glassware cleaning, instrumentation upkeep, etc).
2. Use Raman spectroscopy to analyze pre-sale feasibility samples. Provide clear written summary of work and verbally communicate results to global account managers and/or end customer.
3. Design experiments and collect data to drive applications for new and existing Raman, LIBS, and modular spectrometer products.
4. Write application notes, technical notes, white papers, and blog posts for marketing collateral.
5. Provide applications support via email and phone to spectroscopy product managers to guide product direction for specific sales opportunities.
6. Provide product training for global distribution network, including both virtual and on-site training (may require occasional domestic and international travel).
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Candidates must have at minimum a bachelor's degree in a technical field (chemistry, physics, or engineering). Prior hands-on experience with spectroscopy and chemometric regression modeling is preferred.
2. Candidates must have experience in handling laboratory chemicals and routine sample preparation.
3. Candidates must demonstrate outstanding analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Candidates must have strong presentation, writing, and proofreading skills.
5. Candidates must be self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently with limited supervision.
6. Candidates must work effectively in a cross-functional team that interfaces with many personnel involved in manufacturing, sales, and marketing processes. Candidates should also be adaptable to a dynamic and multicultural work environment.
7. Candidates must be willing to travel (domestic and international) upon request.
8. Prior experience using web meeting platforms (Skype, Go-To Meeting, Microsoft Teams, etc) is a plus.
