Mechanical Engineer In Training - Mitchell, IN

Lehigh Hanson, Inc. recently announced plans for modernization and expansion of its Lehigh Cement Company plant in Mitchell. The company will invest more than $600 million in the plant modernization project which will increase production capacity while also significantly reducing energy usage and emissions per ton of cement produced. The project is the largest expansion and modernization Lehigh Hanson has undertaken in North America.

 What You’ll Get to Do:
  • Put your education into action in the field to support and participate in assigned project work.
  • Participate in a rare, large project building a new cement plant on the footprint of an existing cement plant.
  • Support the project team in completing mechanical engineering work for the new plant.
  • Partner with experienced engineers, managers, and production employees in different departments.
  • Complete technical projects which will assist you in gaining an understanding of the operations of a cement plant and the cement industry, as well as gaining practical application of engineering skills.
  • Ensures compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures

Who We Are Looking For:   
  • A college student studying Mechanical Engineering with a Bachelor’s or Associate's degree graduating in May 2021 or August 2021 with the desire to learn the ins and outs of the cement industry
  • A highly organized, efficient, and process improvement mindset and skillset
  • A person that shows commitment and engagement through a strong work ethic, initiative, and utilization of abilities. 
  • Someone able and willing to dive in and help solve problems in the field
  • Someone with a strong desire to work in a heavy industrial environment
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • A multi-tasker who can tackle multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with 24-hour operations
