Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant: Non Profit Mental Health Agency

The Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) works as a member of multi-disciplinary team and is a direct service provider in the implementation of the Speech and Language Individualized Educational Plan.The Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant also acts in a consulting capacity around the delivery of an enriched language program to all students.Seneca is a non-profit organization who partners with schools with high needs and in urban communities to provide mental health services and to build their capacity to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students grades K-12. Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and professional development to support school staff in experiencing success with all students.
  • Conduct screenings of students to determine the need for further assessment and assist SLP supervisor in completion of full assessments.
  • Implement research-based speech and language interventions to individuals and groups per students’ IEPs and/or intervention plans for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of speech and language deficits.
  • Engage in progress monitoring to guide instructional planning and decision-making.
  • Prepare IEP paperwork and maintain files.
  • Participate and chair IEP meetings and act as IEP case manager for assigned students.
  • Engage caregivers in the educational process, providing frequent opportunities to discuss student growth and needs.
  • Participate in professional learning communities to enhance practice and create coherence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant Certification                  
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid California Driver’s License with ability to be insured by Seneca's automobile policy
  • Clearance of TB test, fingerprints, and any other state or federal requirements

Schedule

  • Full time: Monday - Friday
