Operations Compliance & Technology Specialist I

Minnesota Power is now accepting applications for an Operations Compliance & Technology Specialist I. This position will primarily work on projects in support of substation and Operations Technology (OT) by developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of the associated cyber technology on the bulk electric system. Act as liaison between Cyber Technology Services, Engineering and Compliance Departments

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support operational cyber efforts to ensure all regulatory standards are adhered to including North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP).
  • Maintain and manage various cyber assets including network firewalls and other OT cyber systems on the bulk electric system.
  • Perform research and stays current on industry cyber security practices, technologies, and systems.
  • Ensures that technology training for users is developed, deployed, and objectives followed.
  • Design, implement, and document standardized controls including remote system access, communication configurations, recovery plans, and vendor support.
  • Evaluate, recommend, monitor, and maintain design standards, guidelines, and procedures used to operate cyber systems.
  • Monitor systems for non-compliance with standards and escalate to appropriate members of leadership.
  • Participate in preparation for required audits and participate in audit interviews as required.
  • Ensure reliability of substation and Operations Technology (OT) by developing, implementing, and supporting all aspects of the associated cyber technology.
  • Act as liaison between Cyber Technology Services, Engineering and Compliance Departments.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Degree in Industrial Controls, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • One year or more related job experience including but not limited to:
  • Related operational technology systems
  • Technical support of information systems,
  • Electric utility substation engineering operations, or
  • Support with related experience in cyber system communication, configuration, or management.
  • Computer management, firewall, and communicating network experience is preferred

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Requires high level of interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships
  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
