Student Nurse Intern

Ready to start your career at Ascension St. Vincent? We are currently accepting applications for the Ascension St. Vincent Nurse Residency program. The Nurse Residency is intended for new graduate nurses with no or less than 1 year acute care experience. 
 
Our year long Nurse Graduate Residency Program assists the novice nurse within his/her first year to transition from student to professional nurse. The concept of layered learning is used throughout our program to allow the new nurse to grow professionally. You will gain valuable knowledge through simulation, skills labs and didactic sessions, along with monthly professional development classes on topics applicable to all clinical settings.
 
What You Will Do
 
Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with all disciplines for well coordinated patient care under the oversight of the primary RN.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
 
What You Will Need
 
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required within 6 months of Date of Hire required.
 
Additional Preferences
 
Proof of successful completion of a nursing program from an accredited school/college of nursing or transcript/letter from school showing candidate is in good standing and will successfully complete all requirements of the nursing program prior to hire date.
