REPORTS TO: Elementary School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate for physical education
● Demonstrated excellence in the use of instructional strategies and engagement techniques in elementary PE
● Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills
● Ability to utilize technology for teaching and learning
● Knowledge of or willingness to learn the following:
o Curricular unit and lesson design
o Differentiated Instruction
o Positive Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
o Trauma-informed practices, including mindfulness[2]
o HIV Certification and elementary health instruction
o Emergency response procedures such as CPR and ARD
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Plan and teach lessons aligned with the Michigan K-12 Physical Education Standards that engage and support all learners
● Create a positive classroom environment for all learners
● Assess student progress and provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners
● Work collaboratively with teachers and staff
● Communicate effectively with parents, support staff, administration, and other invested stakeholders regarding the academic, emotional, and behavioral growth of individual students
● Attend staff meetings and other professional development as assigned by the building administrator
SALARY: Per the Master Agreement
