Research Assistant: Mindworks Lab, University of Chicago Center for Decision Research

The Center for Decision Research is looking for part-time research assistants to work in our new research lab and discovery center, called Mindworks, located in the Chicago Loop, right across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago.
 
The Center for Decision Research (CDR) at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business is devoted to the study of how individuals form judgments and make decisions. Researchers at the Center examine the processes by which intuition, reasoning, and social interaction produce beliefs, judgments, and choices. 
 
Research assistants support researchers by managing and administering studies in the Mindworks lab. Our research assistant positions are paid (non-volunteer) positions. Applicants who are psychology majors and/or have prior research experience in the social sciences are strongly encouraged to apply to work with us as research assistants.  

Principal Duties and Responsibilities of CDR Labs Research Assistants at Mindworks:
  • Interact with visitors to Mindworks in a professional and educational manner, providing information about exhibits and opportunities for research participation.
  • Enagage with research participants in a professional manner, guiding them through their participation in our research, and answering any questions or concerns they may have (or when appropriate, conveying any questions or concerns to lab management and/or appropriate researchers).
  • Communicate regularly with lab staff and with CDR researchers, to provide updates on study progress as well as to provide feedback about research projects.
  • Enter and code study data for researchers or lab managers as needed.
  • Advertise studies and assist in outreach efforts to recruit new participants as needed. 
  • Assist with CDR events and programming as needed.
  • Ideally, applicants will have a flexible schedule and will be regularly available to work on weekends, will be extremely reliable, punctual, and organized, and will have excellent communication skills -- both in terms of being an enthusiastic representative of Mindworks with visitors, and in terms of maintaining excellent communications with peers and supervisors.
