Middle School Literacy/Language Arts Teacher

Do you love to read and write? Do you enjoy refining a piece of writing or discussing themes in literature and encouraging others to do the same? GDQ International Christian school has an opening for a middle English/Language Arts/Literacy teacher.

Start Date: August 2024

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons.
  • Further each learner's reading, writing, listening, and speaking development.
  • Help students think about the subject matter biblically and critically (presenting information in such a way as to reveal the character, nature,or handiwork of God).
  • Utilize teaching strategies to meet the needs of EAL learners and students with learning differences.
  • Assign homework to consolidate and extend knowledge and understanding.
  • Make accurate and productive use of assessments, monitoring progress, setting targets and providing regular feedback verbally and in written form.
  • Manage behavior effectively to ensure a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Help develop and keep curriculum documentation updated, following the progression of a long-term plan and submitting weekly plans onto Google Drive and/or Curriculum Trak.

Finances: Personal Support plus Monthly Allowance

Note that all international staff provide for the majority of their financial resources. Most international staff partner with a sending/mission organization. Others have personal funds available. GDQ provides a monthly allowance that covers the cost of housing for most staff members and will reimburse annually (up to 1000 USD) travel costs between a staff member's home country and Albania.

Qualifications:

  • A clear testimony of faith in Christ.
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree
  • Preferred: A valid teaching certificate.
  • Open to raise financial support either personally or in partnership with a sending organization
