Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op

If the answer is yes, we might have a place for you on our team! Emerson is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op. The individual selected for this role will collaborate heavily within the Manufacturing Engineering group of the service operations organization to design and implement processes and tools that support Safety, Service Levels, and operational efficiency goals across the five North America Rapid Response Centers (RRCs). This role will report directly into the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and be expected to provide valuable, educated insights on projects and processes that will support strategic plans and initiatives for the service organization.

 

**This position is a temporary 8-month co-op assignment from January 2024-August 2024. Only students currently attending college or university will be considered. **

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op, You Will:

  • Support safety and quality program compliance throughout the Emerson Rapid Response Center organization.
  • Collaborate between the network resource planning and site manufacturing operations teams to provide functional support of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES), to track, document, and control the process of manufactured goods from raw materials to finished products to improve operational efficiency and optimize site production.
  • Contribute to the design, development, and support for a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), inclusive of asset management, preventative maintenance, work planning, and spare parts inventory.
  • Identify new manufacturing processes, tools, and equipment to innovate and improve the overall Safety and Service Level Performance of the five RRCs.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving teams to implement changes that will drive sustained performance improvement.
  • Develop detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Apply continuous improvement methods, such as Lean Manufacturing, to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support Emerson’s commitment to Sustainability by researching and implementing sustainable manufacturing processes or products.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Junior or Senior pursuing a relevant Engineering discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet education requirement.
  • Experience using CAD, CAM, data analysis programs, and related software.
  • Problem solving skills with structured methods.
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with proven ability to direct and motivate people.
  • Familiarity with Lean process tools and 5S +1.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills preferred.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical devices, products, and equipment.
  • Functional and application knowledge of gauging and measuring instruments.
