Simulation Technology Engineer Co-Op

The Simulation Technology Engineering Co-op will utilize technical and leadership skills in a team environment to apply knowledge of engineering principles in implementing FEA or CFD numerical simulations of new products and automating current simulation procedures.

*This position is a temporary 8-month co-op assignment from January 2024-August 2024. Only students currently attending college or university will be considered. **

AS A SIMULATION TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING CO-OP, YOU WILL …

  • Use existing benchmark problems to evaluate the capabilities and accuracy of CAD based simulation tools for potential use by design teams.
  • Provide recommendations on required training materials and hardware infrastructure for CAD based simulation tools.
  • Contribute to documentation to guide novice users of CAD based simulation tools for specific, standardized simulations.
  • Contribute to simulation group efforts to automate simulations and documentation of results.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of supporting technology and processes to support the simulation process.
  • Communicate with team members to maintain efficient flow of work through the group.
  • Document work in engineering reports.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Required Major(s): Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
  • GPA: 2.5 or above
  • Status: Junior or Senior
  • Completion of the following courses is required for this position: Statics, Mechanics of Materials, Introductory Fluids.   

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with CAD software
  • Experience with numerical simulations
  • Experience with Python or other programming language
