Network for Victim Recovery of DC, Navigator

As an LVC Fellow, and working with this placement, the position is:

NVRDC seeks a Navigator for the Victim Legal Network of DC (VLNDC), a project of the Network for Victim Recovery of DC. VLNDC is a network of 27 DC legal services providers that work together to provide wraparound legal assistance to individuals who have been harmed by all types of crime. Navigators serve as the hub of this network, conducting client intakes, identifying and triaging clients' legal needs, and matching each need to the best-fit member organization. The Navigator position is a client-facing, direct service position. Fellows gain experience in conducting legal screenings by phone, tracking the progression of an intake, identifying legal issues, writing effective fact summaries for legal analysis, making referrals to legal and other resources, and maintaining relationships with legal and social services providers who participate in the network.

These skills will be relevant to future work in legal and social services settings, especially at nonprofit legal services providers; victim advocacy and social justice organizations; and hotline/intake line management.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct phone screenings and intakes with crime victims seeking legal services.
Identify clients' legal needs and create individual cases for referral.
Maintain communication with clients until completion of their case referral(s).
Research and provide out-of-network resources when necessary.
Utilize VLNDC's cloud-based portal to track client data and communicate with network members.
Collaborate with other VLNDC staff to implement program protocols and identify areas for improvement.
Assist with monthly and quarterly programmatic reports.
