We are looking to add a Structural Design Engineer to our team who will help foster our mission that All People Should Live in a Safe, Sustainable and Beautiful Community! As a Structural Design Engineer you will work with project engineers and managers to complete preliminary and final design and plan details of bridges and other structures. You will perform design calculations, assist in developing plan sets and reports utilizing CAD software and Microsoft Office tools. In conjunction to hand calculations, you will gain experience in the utilization of various software programs and inhouse design tools. Projects will range from small, single day efforts, to large, yearlong infrastructure projects.
What You Will Do:
- Complete preliminary layout and designs for structural elements
- Research and prepare drafts of preliminary reports
- Prepare cost estimates
- Perform modeling
- Assist with the preparation of engineering plans, specifications and reports
- Perform effective technical writing and correspondence
- Travel periodically to work sites and other project related locations; perform construction observation and documentation of projects in the field
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelors Degree in Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within 12 months
- Ability to work within a team atmosphere
- Excellent time management and problem solving skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including, but not limited to
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Active listening and negotiation skills
- Ability to understanding others perspectives
- Must be able to work in extended periods in the office as well as outdoors
- Must possess a valid drivers license. Minimal travel is required.
PreferredQualifications:
Minimum 3 months experience in the engineering/surveying industry (an internship or co-op counts toward experience)
