ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - DITCH WITCH

The Engineer, R&D, will research and design components and electrical/electronic systems for Ditch Witch or Subsite branded products.  Primary duties include design and selection of components related to electronic or electromechanical construction equipment.  The employee will use ECAD software to create electronic schematics; direct the work of drafter/illustrators, and technicians; works closely with various component suppliers; and performs other duties as assigned.

What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for: 

  • Collect and analyze technical information from a variety of sources, including:
    • conversations with engineers, product managers, suppliers, etc.
    • technical documents.
    • operation of equipment.
    • their own tests & experiments
  • Develop design concepts for circuits and systems, involving analog and digital design techniques and interface sensors with microcontrollers/microprocessors.
  • Develop design concepts using firmware design techniques.
  • Develop and de-bug circuit prototypes to demonstrate compliance with specifications.
  • Define measurement techniques, tuning procedures, and special test fixtures for production use.
  • Prepare production documentation.
  • Meets or exceed typical expectations for creativity, productivity, quality, and safety.

What Do You Need?

To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements: 

  • Professional Engineering license, or
  • B.S. Degree from an ABET accredited Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from a university with an ABET accredited undergraduate engineering program. 
  • Successful completion of EIT requirements is desirable.
  • Engineer I requires 0-2 years experience of hardware design or writing software and organizing projects or architecture of software.
  • Engineer II, required 2-4 years experience of hardware design or writing software and organizing projects or architecture of software.
  • Plus at least one-year experience in applying electrical components and subsystems to mechanical equipment is desirable. 
  • Must be able to create and analyze portions of product design as assigned when given direction and leadership.

Other Job-Related Components: (e.g., Physical demands, working conditions, travel)

  • Travel to test sites, distributors, customers, vendors, manufacturing facilities, and others will be required.
  • Ability to work with others in teams to accomplish goals.  Includes task and/or project leadership.
