Winchester Network Engineer

Network Engineer Essential Functions*:

  • Assessing an organization's network structure and needs Planning for scalability and growth.
  • Designing network architecture and topology.
  • Lead IT projects with Olin IT and Service Provider teams as needed.
  • Selecting hardware and software components for the network configuration and monitoring.
  • Installing and configuring network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Setting up and configuring network protocols and services.
  • Ensuring proper cabling and physical connectivity.
  • Diagnosing and resolving network connectivity and performance problems.
  • Conducting root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of network configurations and changes.
  • Creating network diagrams and documentation for reference.
  • Collaborating with other IT teams and departments to ensure network integration with other systems and services.
  • Assisting in project planning and execution that involves network components.
  • Implementing backup and recovery strategies to ensure data and network availability in case of failures.
  • Configuring redundancy for critical network components.

Network Engineer Position Requirements*:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as computer science, information technology, or electrical engineering.
  • Minimum seven years of related experience.
  • On-premises work assignment, remote work not available for this position.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional Certification.
  • Experience working with network equipment, configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to end users.
  • Detail-oriented as it is crucial for configuring and maintaining complex networks.
  • Adaptable and able to work in a rapidly changing field. Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving network requirements.
  • Desire to learn and improve skills, as technology constantly evolves.
  • Full knowledge and ability to troubleshoot the Open Systems Interconnection model.
  • General knowledge of; DODi and U.S. Army regulations and Operation Technology/Industrial control systems knowledge preferred.
  • Vendor/Contractor management preferred.
  • Ability to attain DOD ‘Secret’ level Clearance.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
