Certified Teacher with Autism Experience - New Britain, CT

LearnWell is currently looking for our next creative and passionate teacher to fill a school year position in New Britain, CT. The certified teacher will be teaching core subjects to a small group of students. All students have a primary autism diagnosis, but we could also see a wide range of the behaviors on that spectrum as well. Facility staff will be present at all times during class to provide additional support that falls outside the scope of educational instruction. Your main responsibility will be to assist students with their academics while they are unable to attend their traditional schools. You will not be required to attend any IEP or parent meetings of any kind. All schoolwork and progress notes will be sent back to the corresponding school district.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver daily lesson plans and instructional material for an average of 6-12 students, in a small group setting
  • Help students one-on-one if extra assistance is needed on their individual school curriculum
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, hospital and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Updating daily attendance and creating daily session reports for each student

Most Common Diagnosis: Autism, Depression, Anxiety, ODD, ADHD

Position entails a 40 hour a week commitment. Schedule is Monday-Friday from 7:30-4:00pm. This position includes a $500.00 sign on bonus! $250.00 bonus paid out after teacher's 30 days of employment and then the remaining $250.00 paid after 90 days of employment. Qualifications

  • B.A/B.S degree from an accredited institution
  • State Teaching Certification
  • Special Education experience
  • Comfortable working with students primarily across 7-12th grade and diagnosed with autism
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Understanding of subject matter relevant to students need
