Director of Nursing

Scion Medical Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search to find a Director of Nursing for our wonderful client Right at Home, a company that provides seniors and adults with disabilities tailored in-home care options across a variety of settings. The Director of Nursing oversees the non-medical clinical and home care programs, services, and personnel in this full-time, in-person opportunity in Seattle, Washington.

The perfect individual for this role is highly motivated to live out their mission of helping senior citizens remain in their homes. Working directly with the Client Services Manager and Administrator, they will foster, embody, and infuse a culture of compassion, inclusivity, dedication, and data-based decision making. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supervise all patient care and credentialed professionals, with availability during all hours of service and on-call services after hours and weekends as needed.
  • Perform or oversee the first in person visit of all agency clients, work with Clinical Operations to confirm that paperwork for clients is accurately completed.
  • Ensure coordination, development, and revision of written patient care policies and procedures related to each service provided.
  • Guarantee that the organization is meeting the Joint Commission standards and State of Washington protocols.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance program.
  • Supervise, monitor, and document supervision of all field nurses, nursing office staff and Client Care Coordinators. Provide training and coaching as needed, and perform or designate required annual performance review, in-home supervisory visits and training for field nurses.
  • Ensure that a licensed nurse or therapist supervises and evaluates the compliance of home health aide services with the plan of care and the patient satisfaction in the home.
  • When providing acute care services under the agency’s home health license, the Director of Nursing ensure that that a licensed nurse or therapist supervises the home health aide services with or without the home health aide in the home every six-months to evaluate compliance with the plan of care and the patient satisfaction in the home; and medication assistance by home health aides meet agency policy and the appropriate chapter of the Washington Administrative Code.
  • Coordinate and participate in the development and revision of written client care policies for all agency tasks. Ensure that care staff are vetted and credentialed to provide licensed services including: IVIG/Infusion; Vent and Trach Care, Wound Care, Bowel and Bladder Programs, and Nurse Delegation.
  • Oversee direct care personnel, delegate appropriate tasks to caregivers, coordinate services, and promote effective Home Health and Home Care services in compliance with agency philosophy, policies, and procedures, and in accordance with State licensing laws and regulations.
  • Ensure effective and ongoing on-the-job training in direct reports. Provide coaching and counseling and make appropriate developmental recommendations.
  • Establish primary personnel responsibilities for the Plan of Care / Plan of Treatment and assure that all in-home Plans of Care are followed. Ensure client care plans are up to date and nurses and caregivers are clearly instructed on how to provide care to their clients and support their families.
  • Routinely supervise and document clients to ensure compliance with the Plan of Care and assess client satisfaction with care for all nurses and direct care staff.
  • Oversee collection and management of office records, client records in accordance with agency policy and state regulations,
  • Investigate problems, irregularities, policy violations, and other reportable events and implement the appropriate corrective action and follow-up.
  • Build relationships with referral partners, including insurance case managers, VA case managers, hospital case managers, clinicians, and infusion pharmacies.
  • Work closely with office staff to promote inter-agency and intra-agency communication to assure appropriate client care.
  • Work closely with scheduling staff to ensure seamless client and caregiver experience.
  • Responsible for development and performance management of direct reports including annual evaluations, as well as supervisory visits of field nurses.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in nursing and an active and in good standing RN license in Washington State.
  • 2 years of healthcare experience with experience in home healthcare or home-based rehabilitation services.
  • 10 hours of annual training related to clinical supervision duties delivery of home care and home health services.
  • Understanding of regulatory components of home health care licensure; proficiency with client assessments, including medical history, mental/physical health, and cognitive screens.
  • Experience utilizing Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and scheduling software, with knowledge of ClearCare a plus.
  • Effective leadership, management, and training experience. Proficiency in working with diverse populations and multidisciplinary teams, executives, and outside consultants.
  • Sound decision-maker, excellent written communicator, and public speaker and presenter.

Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time; collect and analyze complex data; adjust eye focus often; communicate electronically; lift objects up to 20 lbs.; work in high stress environments; and travel up to 60 miles to multiple work locations at least once each week. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
