CORRECTION CLERK

Salary - $15.62 - $15.62 Hourly

 

Description

  • Obtains information from participants, prepares and processes forms, maintains computer and manual records to enroll, monitors and releases participants from alternative sentencing programs.
  • Conducts interviews with participants to explain alternative sentencing program guidelines.
  • Instructs participants in the proper use and installation of electronic monitoring equipment, determines a schedule of permitted activities, collects fees, and discusses and implements court ordered alternative sentencing program restrictions.
  • Records schedule changes requested by participants and receives and files verification forms documenting participants' appointments.
  • Enters data into computer concerning participant demographics, approved schedule of activities, assigned electronic monitoring equipment, monitoring time period, fees, and release; and assigns officer to conduct home visits.
  • Operates computer monitoring system to monitor participants' activities, interprets computer messages generated by the automatic computer phone dialing system to participant's home, and prepares violation notices when the participant fails to respond.
  • Contacts participants at home to monitor their activity, to explain the installation and operation of electronic monitoring equipment, to correct equipment malfunctions, and to notify them of court appearances and their release from the program.
  • Cleans and inventories electronic monitoring equipment, makes minor repairs to equipment, and contacts vendors for major repairs.
  • Accesses and searches computer records to display or report data or to respond to inquiries for information contained within the data base, and to provide information to district court personnel and law enforcement agencies.
  • Operates two-way radio to provide information concerning the status of participants to officers in the field and other law enforcement agencies
  • Performs related work

Minimum Requirements

  • Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work.
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • One year of customer service, cash register, bank teller, computer data entry, bookkeeping or clerical experience
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony.
  • Misdemeanor convictions will be considered on an individual basis.
  • Must submit to a pre-employment polygraph test.
  • Must pass an annual tuberculin test.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Applicants and employees in positions which perform job duties that may require contact with offenders in the custody or supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice or with youth in the care, custody or supervision of Youth Development.
  • Must meet qualifications pursuant to the federal Prison Rape Elimination Act, 28 CFR 115.17 and 115.317, to include periodic post-employment criminal background checks.
