OMB Grant Accountant II

Salary

$25.83 - $25.83 Hourly

Description

  • Researches, collects and analyzes financial data and prepares reconciliations, work papers and schedules
    Coordinates grant reimbursement processes
  • Prepares and submits required funding source financial reports
  • Evaluates program procedures for effectiveness, develops and implements modifications
  • Conducts compliance research and reviews for regulatory compliance to federal and state grant programs and projects and coordinates federal and funding source audits
  • Assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of audit processes and corrective action plans
  • Provides technical assistance regarding grant activity, reimbursements and required funding source reporting
  • Prepares grant reconciliations accurately and in accordance with prescribed deadlines
  • Reviews and monitors reconciliation of grant cost centers and awarded amounts
  • Analyzes and audits grant activity for compliance to governmental accounting standards
  • Reviews grant related journal entries for accuracy and appropriateness
  • Provides technical assistance regarding grant activity, reimbursements and required funding source reporting
  • Analyzes accounts, statements and reports to ensure transactions are recorded according to accounting principles and resolves discrepancies
  • Prepares correspondence and documents and completes special projects
  • Meets with departments and establishes accounting procedures for grants
  • Assists in budget preparation and monitors expenditures
  • Monitors compliance to grants management policies and procedures
  • Assists with the development, implementation and monitoring of corrective action plans based on audit findings
  • Provides technical assistance to departments regarding regulatory grant compliance and required funding source reporting
  • Monitors and ensures departments are meeting funding source financial reporting requirements
  • Schedules and performs departmental compliance reviews of grant files and documentation to ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements
  • Coordinates federal audits and other funding source audits and reviews
  • Assists in the preparation of grant applications
  • Develops and maintains communication and effective working relationships with metro departments and external agencies and organizations

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
  • Bachelor's degree – Accounting - Business Administration – Economics – Finance - Public Administration - 
    OR Related Field
  • Three years of finance, accounting, budget preparation, budget analysis or financial analysis experience
  • Equivalency:  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Ability and proficiency with Microsoft Office, financial reporting systems and other computer system applications
  • Ability to understand regulatory compliance in relation to federal and state funding
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to understand governmental accounting principles and concept
