GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT: POSITION OPENING

School to Career Coordinator


 

IN THIS ROLE:

Identify, develop, coordinate and maintain work-based opportunities for students interested in exploring career pathways.  Facilitate activities to recruit new business partners, advisory board members, and potential students.


 

WHAT WE NEED:

  • Identify, develop and coordinate work-based opportunities for students including job shadowing, mentoring, field experiences, on-the-job training, field trips, presenters/presentations, etc.
  • Conduct follow-up activities on all school-to-career student experiences including training agreements, weekly time sheets, site visitations, performance evaluations, phone calls and related paperwork.
  • Provide information and assistance to students and staff on career opportunities, and related requirements and procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with counselors and teachers to assist students in developing employability skills and career plans.
  • Compile and analyze program data and statistics; identify and recommend opportunities to improve the School-to-Career process.
  • Coordinate and facilitate various events including Career Fairs, Open Houses, College and Career Nights, Student Appreciation and recognition activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate activities to recruit new business partners, advisory board members, and potential students.
  • Maintain effective public relations with business, industry and the community through networking activities.
  • Assist counselors with recruiting activities including making presentations to high school and middle school students from sending districts.
  • Participate in the design and presentation of outreach materials and workshops for parents and community organizations. 



 

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • Two or more years of related experience.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel to local businesses and schools throughout Oakland County and utilize the equipment necessary in making presentations. The incumbent is also required to properly operate required office equipment such as a personal computer.


 

SALARY DETAILS:

$19.50 - $22.62 based on experience, with the potential of earning up to $24.36 Hourly / NonExempt Position / 10-month work year
