Postdoctoral Position

Department of Food Science and Technology

The Ohio State University

Detailed Job Description:

The candidate will conduct research and publish in the areas of food processing and structure formation associated with their final properties; will utilize microscopy and spectroscopy to characterize the physico-chemical properties of materials (e.g., lipids, proteins, and their interaction) involved in food formulations; will research the mechanical characterization of bio-materials using standard rheological techniques and imaging techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR and MRI), atomic force microscopy (AMF), laser light and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) testing, and data analysis.

The postdoctoral candidate will collaborate with project PI and collaborators on the preparation of grant proposals to federal agencies, industry, and foundations related to food material research. The candidate will work closely with OSU and external colleagues to advance research in physico-chemistry aspects related to the quality of foods and their role in food processing. The candidate will collaborate with students in the PI’s lab and collaborators within OSU, as well as collaborators at other universities. The candidate will work on intellectual property issues arising from research in the labs of the project PI and collaborators.

Expected Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, or related disciplines with research experience
