Ticket Sales/Operations Internship

Start Date: Approx. May 15 End Date: Approx. August 15

Internship Objective:

The Fremont Moo has an exciting internship opportunity for a current college level student looking to gain sports sales experience. The ticket sales/operations Intern will oversee game day ticket operations for all home games/events gaining valuable experience in the sports industry. The ticket sales/operations intern will have the opportunity to sell individual, season, group, and premium tickets. Interns will have a unique opportunity to gain exposure and knowledge of all operational components of the Fremont Moo. Many previous Moo Interns have launched their careers in the sports industry after their immersive internship with the Moo. Interns, regardless of specialty, provide input and ideas to improve the Moo organization. We welcome interns ideas and input. Applicants should be studying a subject in a relevant field such as, but is not limited to, Sport Management, Business, Marketing, or Sales.

The Ticket Sales Intern will gain knowledge & exposure in areas such as:

  • Sales & Marketing – cold-calling, delivering a sales pitch, closing the sale
  • Database Management – lead generation/prospecting, developing a database
  • Customer Service – answering questions, providing information, diffusing problems
  • Game Day Operations – engaging with fans

General Team Responsibilities:

  • Expected to be available for all Fremont Moo home games.
  • Intern will be expected to report to the office on home game days 5 hours prior to first pitch
  • Requires ability to work flexible schedules including nights and weekends.
  • If there is not a game on a weekday, you will be expected to attend office hours each day and collaborate with intern team with ideation, planning, and execution of Moo initiatives.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Contacting qualified sales leads to generate ticket sales revenue through individual, season, group, and premium tickets
  • Oversee and manage box office ticket operations
  • Learn and operate Igniter ticketing software
  • Handling customer service and ticketing issues
  • Attending/staffing additional outside events (community relations)
  • Work on game nights assisting fans with walk-up sales
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Availability to work all games and events
  • Must be a team player with strong leadership skills
  • Must be enthusiastic with a desire to work hard and have a positive “can‐do” attitude
  • Cash handling experience preferred
  • Customer Service & Management experience preferred
  • Self‐ motivated and ability to take initiative
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Sheets
  • The ability to work extended hours and lift 50 lbs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Competitive and committed
  • Highly motivated with a desire to be successful
  • Effective time management skills

About the Organization: The Fremont Moo began playing in 2019. Each team in the league operated similar to a professional minor league team, providing players an opportunity to play under the same conditions using wooden bats, minor league specification baseballs, experiencing overnight road trips, and playing nightly. The environment for fans is family - friendly and community focused. The Fremont Moo have won 2 league championships in the first 5 seasons of existence. Moo Baseball is more than just a baseball game. In fact, many of our fans don’t attend our games just for the baseball game. They come for the fun promotions, theme nights, daily specials, food/drinks with friends, family, or colleagues, and overall entertainment value the Moo and our business partners provide.

Compensation: All interns will receive a monthly stipend to assist with travel and living expenses. Housing may be available with a host family. All interns receive free food after home games, discounts, and many more perks.

Credit: College credit towards a major, minor or general elective may be earned and is desired. There are educational and work components to this position.
