Quality Technician

Job Summary:

Perform inspections of injection molded and machined products for defects and deviations from specifications. Responsible for auditing incoming materials and components, utilizing provided tools. 

Auditing the Quality Management System to ensure Parkway is meeting the ISO 9001 Standard. Accountable for communicating with all levels of the plant with regards to the status of nonconforming parts. Adheres to all plant and OSHA safety policies and regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, communicates, labels, and properly segregates products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Analyzes and interprets drawings, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
  • Relays inspection results to Supervisors, Managers and Production Associates.
  • Notifies supervisors and other personnel of production problems and
  • Records inspection of test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities.
  • Monitors production output to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Notifies production of any out of specification conditions and assists in identifying and correcting these problems.
  • Measures dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers.
  • Responsible for printing labels, applying labels to packaging and controlling labels.
  • Performs duties with little or no supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, specifications and technical materials.
  • Ability to work effectively with coworkers in a team environment.
  • Completion of "Fundamentals of Injection Molding" Paulson Training.
  • Ability to use metrology hand tools with ease.
  • Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain documentation accurately.
  • Ability to complete visual inspections unsupervised.
  • Ability to use handheld scanners.
  • Ability to operate Vision Systems with limited assistance.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills.
  • English language proficiency in both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2-year experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 a plus but not required.
  • Experience using the following tools:
    1. Go/No Go Gauges,
    2. Calipers
    3. Digital Micrometers
    4. Vision System
  • Experience using the following technology:
    1. Spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel)
    2. Database Software
    3. Label Making Software

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and office environment involving sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Requires manual dexterity.
  • Moderate physical demand involves lifting and moving materials and equipment.
