Quality Engineer - Partner Tools and Operations

Alarm.com is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Partner Tools and Operations team. The team supports testing certification of multiple tools offered to our partners and internal stakeholders, as well as the integration with some hardware devices and multiple software platforms. The Partner Tools and Operations Quality Engineer will be working on critical priorities for the business and collaborating with internal teams like Sales, Marketing, and CORE to ensure our products meet quality standards of functionality and performance.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in science, 0 to 1 years of relevant experience working on quality engineering related activities or projects, the ability to communicate clearly, and will contribute towards product/system improvements to resolve in-field product issues and improve overall product Quality. The candidate should be a self-starter who can work closely with the development team to discover, report, and validate fixes for issues.   

Responsibilities

• Developing test plans and updating test documentation as needed before/during/after testing
• Executing tests, tracking defects, and following defects through the resolution process until fix is verified and closed.
• Interacting with Developers and Product Management to ensure the products and feature are ready for launch.
• Ensuring partner portal web interface performance and usability on a weekly basis.
• Setting up and maintaining test environments and equipment.
• Triaging urgent problems, prioritizing accordingly, and proposing a resolution
• Collaborating with our internal stakeholders to understand the needs and how the product will be used internally or by our partners.
• Be an advocate for our partners and internal stakeholders.
• Design and maintain weekly smoke test.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Technology, or relevant discipline
• Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, time management, and analysis skills
• Ability to work independently, raise issues and take corrective action
• Exceptional communication skills in order to articulate quality assurance practices
• Self-motivated with strong technical and communication skills, and a deep interest in product quality
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to make decisions based on test results to advise management and customers

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of QE experience in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Background in Quality Assurance
• Experience with functional and regression testing, test planning, test case development.
• Advanced computer/technology skills/certifications
