We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our team. As a Project Engineer, you will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overhead electrical transmission structural design.
  • Designs components for overhead transmission and distribution structures.
  • Prepares cost analysis, quotations and bids on material manufactured by Hughes Brothers.
  • Interacts with customers on engineering design and accurately answer questions or solve problems they may have.
  • Prepares bills of material and other data for purchase order entry by Engineering Assistant(s).
  • Assigns drawing requirements to Engineering Technicians/Draftsman.
  • Assists in structure and component full-scale testing.
  • Travels to trade shows and assists factory representatives with sales and technical calls to utility customers.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all company products, company activities and divisional operations to provide maximum service.
  • Represents the company in civic and business organizations in a manner that will enhance the public image of the company.
  • Attends and participates in department employee meetings, safety meetings, and general employee meetings as directed.
  • Receives cross-training in other positions as required.
  • Performs all duties in a proper and safe manner while complying with Hughes Brothers and OSHA safety standards.
  • Required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering required, with emphasis on steel design, EIT status.  NEW AND UPCOMING GRADUATES WILL BE CONSIDERED! (Competitive compensation based on degree and experience). Knowledgeable of basic utility construction terminology and industry highly preferred. Ability to attain P.E. Certification for professional advancement. General knowledge of professional engineering practices. Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred. Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills required, experience with ERP software highly preferred.
