Student Volunteer Opportunity-Fall 2024, HSI Philadelphia

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is a law enforcement agency. HSI is the principal investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), responsible for investigating transnational crime and threats, specifically those criminal organizations that exploit the global infrastructure through which international trade, travel, and finance move. HSI investigates, disrupts, and dismantles terrorist, transnational, and other criminal organizations that threaten and seek to exploit the customs and immigration laws of the United States. HSI uses its broad legal authority to pursue cases and initiatives to counter a wide range of illicit activity such as narcotics smuggling, child exploitation, money laundering, human trafficking, weapons trafficking, human smuggling, cybercrime, financial fraud, human rights violations, war crimes, labor exploitation, and illegal technology procurement. HSI special agents also conduct investigations aimed at protecting critical infrastructure industries that are vulnerable to sabotage, attack, or exploitation.

The DHS/HSI Volunteer Program is a dedicated hands-on experience designed to provide educationally related work assignments for students in a non-pay status. Based upon their background, interests, and experience, students are assigned to an investigative group that covers one or more programmatic areas (e.g., child exploitation, narcotics smuggling, cybercrime, etc.)

The HSI Philadelphia Volunteer Program is an on-site opportunity and selected students will be expected to report to the HSI Philadelphia office during the Fall 2024 term.
