Job Summary: 
Owensboro Community and Technical College is accepting applications for a full-time 10-month Accounting Instructor in the Business, Health, and Public Services Department. Primary teaching assignments will include a variety of courses in the study of Accounting such as ACC 201 Financial Accounting, ACC 202 Managerial Accounting, and BAS 120 Personal Finance.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

The duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Demonstrate passion to effectively teach students in both an online and in-person format.
  • Teach a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester, or a minimum of 30 credit hours in the Fall and Spring semesters combined. Teaching assignments may include teaching on one or more of the College’s campuses, online, or some combination thereof, based on the needs of the students.
  • Complete Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an awareness of emerging business and accounting trends and issues.
  • Represent the BA programs to community partners, groups, and professional organizations.
  • Participate in faculty professional development.
  • Participate in college and community activities that serve the mission and vision of OCTC.
  • Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
  • Incorporate various teaching methods and materials to assist students with differing educational experiences, experiential backgrounds, and learning styles to meet course competencies.
  • Evaluate students’ progress towards stated course competencies and inform them of their progress in a timely manner.
  • Provide quality and timely access to students and communicate availability through appropriate methods such as posted campus/office hours and electronic communication.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, and the community.

  • Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with instructional technology, as well as written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.

Qualifications:

  • MS in Accounting or MBA with 18+ graduate hours in accounting is required
  • Certified Public Accountant is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated effective interpersonal interactions.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated successful teaching experience.
  • Experience with instructional technologies, including presentation software and learning management systems (i.e., Blackboard, Ultra, Canvas).
