SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

 

JOB LOCATION:            This position serves at Douglas, Lincoln & LEAP Elementary Schools

CERTIFICATION:            Wis. DPI Licensure in School Psychologist

CONTRACT PERCENT: 100% 

START DATE:                August 26, 2024 (new teacher orientation is August 19-22, 2024)

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:      This position is one of sixteen licensed pupil services staff in the District to provide services to our students.

 

Duties required to perform this position include:

  • Expertise and experience in assessment measures, scoring, analyzing, and interpreting assessments;
  • Knowledge of evidence based education and behavioral strategies;
  • Knowledge and ability to analyze data at the individual, building, and district levels;
  • Knowledge of programming across all areas of exceptionality;
  • Contributing in the development of initial and re-evaluations of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs);
  • Providing consultation to classroom teachers regarding student behavioral and academic concerns; and
  • Providing individual and small group counseling as necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:        Qualified candidates should possess:

  • Ability to be student centered; 
  • Passion in working with all students;
  • Ability to promote a positive school climate in all interactions with students, staff, and parents;
  • Ability to support all students towards academic, social, behavioral, and emotional success;
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in interactions with students, parents, and staff are essential;
  • Ability to work as a member of the district pupil services team;
  • Knowledge/experience with RtI, PBIS, and Culturally Responsive Practices; and
  • Special consideration given to applicants that have experience with mental health issues/concerns.

THE DISTRICT:             The Watertown School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,300 students taught in seven buildings.  The District employs approximately 270 teachers and 230 support staff to serve our students.  The District provides an extensive curriculum to the students: traditional, charter, alternative, virtual, STEM, etc programs. The District also offers a wide array of athletic and academic extracurricular activities for the students.  All buildings have had recent major renovations to improve the learning and working environments. 

 

THE COMMUNITY:        The Watertown community has 24,000 residents and is located on the Rock River approximately halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, at the junction of Highways 16, 19, and 26.  The greater Watertown community supports a strong educational system for our students!
