About the Role

Subject’s Teaching Assistants are an integral part of the educational experience for learners on our platform. Primarily, this team of contracted licensed educators provides scores and feedback for all coursework submitted by Subject learners. Additionally, TAs work closely with Subject’s Operations and Education teams to provide feedback on future platform and curriculum decisions based on student feedback and performance. Finally, on occasion, TAs may be called upon to provide additional academic support to learners (e.g. virtual tutoring, etc.). 

This is a part-time role that pays hourly and is a fully remote position. Work expectation is 10-15 hours/week. 

Start date is flexible but no later than June 28th. Compensation is set at $20/hour to start and may increase based on performance and tenure. 

What You’ll Do

We are looking for one California-based facilitator to work with our English students in our English Language Arts courses. This is a highly impactful position that operates at the front lines of our business.

Critically, a prerequisite for this role is to have a deep subject matter knowledge in English Language Arts. Preferably, experience tutoring or teaching ELA is ideal. 
 

Responsibilities include:

  • Grade all submitted work for your courses within 48 hours using rubrics when available and provide substantive feedback on student work
  • Become an expert in and provide feedback on Subject’s proprietary curriculum
  • Relay student inquiries and student behavioral issues (e.g. plagiarism, etc.) to Subject’s Operations Team in a timely manner
  • Ensure all content meets Subject’s standard of quality
  • Provide additional support to students in the form of synchronous or asynchronous tutoring as needed and directed by Subject
     

Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of English Language Arts or experience tutoring high school students in ELA
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (or similar field) or currently enrolled in a four-year university
  • Experience teaching and building learner communities in a remote setting
  • Strong subject matter skills and expertise
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Google Suite and modern business and communication tools (Zoom, G-Mail, etc.)
  • Proficient in Canvas or similar software platform
