Job Summary:

 

The Department of Wood Science and Engineering invites applications for a part-time (0.30 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term, Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head.

 

The Department of Wood Science and Engineering fulfills the land-grant education, research, and outreach mission of Oregon State University (OSU) with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and business related to wood products and innovation for sustainability.

 

The primary purpose of this position is to foster critical thinking, advance students' knowledge, and skills through the teaching of Wood Science and Engineering courses. The incumbent is expected to provide an intellectual foundation for students concerning wood products business and marketing topics.

 

Appointment at the Instructor rank is anticipated; however, appointment at a promoted rank may be considered depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

 

100% – Delivery of undergraduate courses in Wood Science and Engineering that are designed to challenge students on topics relating to wood products business and marketing (Forest Products Business, Industrial Marketing of Wood Products, and Wood Products Sales). This may include distance education course offerings, based on departmental needs and/or development and delivery of a graduate class in forest sector business and sustainability.

 

What You Will Need

 

• Master’s degree in wood science, business, or related field.

• 2 years of lead work, training, or teaching at any level.

• 2 or more years of experience in business, sales and/or marketing.

• Familiarity with various wood products and global markets.

 

What We Would Like You to Have


 

• PhD in wood science, business, or related field.

• A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

• Previous experience in wood products industry.

• A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.

 

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

 

Work schedule will be based on the class and/or lab times.
