Horticulturist

We are seeking a full-time horticulturist. The ideal candidate should be strongly independent yet collaborative with a small, talented horticultural team.  The horticulturist will be able to work with sophisticated, ecologically functioning gardens, grounds and natural areas on our campus.  

Job Description: The primary function of the Horticulturist is to maintain campus planting and landscaping by supporting the day to day landscaping and horticulture management of grounds and related duties at Kendal- Crosslands Communities.

This position is full- time working Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm.

 

Requirements:

-Must have a professional certification related to Horticulture or relevant experience equivalent to professional certificate 

- 2 or 4 year degree in horticulture sciences or related degree

- A professional background including landscape design, tree care, plant identification, pruning, turf management, integrated pest management and groundskeeping

-Strong leadership, communication, and planning skills 

-Must possess a driver’s license in state of residence and be insurable by Kendal-Crosslands Communities

-Pa pesticide applicator license needed within 6 months of hire; Kendal-Crosslands Communities will pay for licensure when obtained

Kennett Square, located alongside Longwood Gardens in the heart of one of the nation’s horticultural hot spots.
