Office Technician (Typing)

This position can be located in Sacramento or Riverside County.

The Enforcement Division's (ED) Equipment Registration Section (ERS) is seeking a highly productive, hard-working individual to become a member of its Portable Equipment Registration Program (PERP) to work closely with the Portable Equipment Operations Section (PEOS) Office Technician (Typing) on a dynamic team of Air Pollution Specialists (APS), Air Resources Engineers, Air Resources Technicians, Associate Governmental Program Analysts (AGPA), and a Staff APS. The ERS and PEOS Office Technician positions perform clerical, administrative, and accounting-related duties throughout the portable equipment registration process.

 

Responsibilities of the Office Technician (Typing) position include performing clerical assignments with a focus on system entry of application and registration information, fees, company accounts, compliance reports, and reconciled refunds. Other clerical activities include monitoring the renewal invoice email account and uploading scanned applications and renewal invoices into PERP's electronic tracking system. Administrative tasks include generating renewal invoices, billing invoices, and temporary registrations as well as packaging or preparing these documents for mailing or emailing, and occasionally providing support to ED for policy-related assignments, ad hoc projects, and reports.

 

As necessary, the Program AGPA staff may need assistance with a variety of administrative and accounting-related duties. Assistance may be required for tracking and reconciling payments without documentation and documentation without payment; analyzing, evaluating, preparing, and tracking refunds; responding to refund inquiries; annually reconciling district inspection fee revenue for submittal; preparing, submitting, and tracking procurement activities (i.e., contracts, supply orders); maintaining company account information and generating company reports; and developing administrative policies and procedures specific to PERP.

Working Conditions

 

This position may be eligible for hybrid in-office work and in-state telework. The amount of telework is at the agency's discretion and is based on the California Air Resource Boards' (CARB) current telework policy. While the CARB may support telework, some in-person attendance is also required. 

The positions at the CARB may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria outlined in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of hybrid telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position’s designated headquarters location at their own expense.
